Google did take a long time before making a entry into the telecom industry, and started 2010 with the nexus one. Google has not been so secretive like apple and there were several reports of the release of google phone nexus one several days before the release.

Iphone vs Nexus one
The google nexus one has been highly anticipated as a phone of the year 2010, because google has been working on the android for well over a year. However the iphone has an distinct advantage in not only a user base but also a great app store. The nexus one is definitely not an iphone killer as of now and we are talking in terms of numbers. Perhaps google nexus four could match the current iphone. May be.

The U.S. office has released a powerful new patent applications, there is a new interface for the iPhone (and I suppose also be available on the iPod touch). These new features are not a part of the current Beta 3 of iPhone OS 3.0.

Apple Patent
Patent is “taught” that the iPhone detects the movement of th device and also the movement of the person. Assume the person is running on a tread mill and operating the device, say picture pinching a photo or rotating the iphone for landscape view.
In some blogs, the layout shows a front camera to give the new iPhone video. Personally I think they are showing where the sensors are located in the iPhone. Will these features be a part of the new iphone OS?

Ipod Sales in 2009
The above chart comes from the NPD Group. The chart shows various sales of iPod, from the starting of the year. In this plot shows the strong growth of sales of the iPod shuffle since the arrival of the new model, estimated to have risen by 51%. This means that a new version is like the crowd in spite of their negative comments.
The bad news comes when you discover that the total sales this year (compared to last year) have fallen by 38%. Although a good percentage of users have bought iphones, which covers the functionality of the ipod.
The iphone does replace the ipod in many sitautions and without the carrier contract, the iphone can be a total ipod killer.
